Preparative actions

The EMG measured signal can be influenced by a variety of factors, e.g. muscle anatomy, characteristics of single motor units, movement-related factors, physical or technical factors. A preventive arrangement to reduce confounding variables is the adequate preparation of the contact junction, this includes:

  1. Skin shaving
  2. Degreasing/cleaning by alcohol
  3. Correct application of the electrode
  4. Putting on the electrodes parallel to the muscle fibres direction
