Actuation box
To be able to execute the required motions, which are shown in the chapter about the possible types of movements and settings of the chosen concept, the demonstrator needs a motor and a transmission from the actuation box, which is fixed to the ground, to the Bowden cable. Additionally, the design of the box has to be modular, so it is possible to realize different set-ups of mechanical components to simulate several muscle models.
The embedded technology in the actuation box consists of an electric motor with transmission (planetary drive and spindle), linear bearings, aluminum profiles, where the bearings can be mounted and a spring. These parts will be introduced in the next chapters:
